Professional Project - Single Phase Solar on Multiple Buildings
Temple Israel - Camp Teko
This project not only offsets a significant portion of the camp’s annual energy consumption, but also provides the campers with an educational experience. The main feature of this camp is the “Discovery Center” whose hydraulic louvers serve as a component of a passive solar assembly, allowing sunlight to charge the concrete floor in the winter as a thermal mass. The solar panels on these hydraulic louvers report to a real-time production monitoring dashboard, allowing campers to see how the production changes as the panels are tilted up and down.
The project as a whole is being considered for an AIA award.
